About Dr. Joseph Evans
Joseph Evans (’69), Ph.D., retired, served as the Director of the Psychology Department at the Munroe-Meyer Institute and the Division Director of Pediatric Psychology in the University of Nebraska Medical Center’s Department of Pediatrics. He was the 2008 recipient of the Cummings American Psychological Foundation Psyche Award, presented for his work in developing a model that integrates behavioral health into rural primary care practices.
Fall 2023 Speaker (November 7, 2023)
Overview
The fall 2023 speaker was Dr. Paige McArdle, Associate Clinical Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Medicine and Staff Child Psychologist at Children’s Mercy Hospital. Dr. McArdle’s specialty areas include autism spectrum disorders and applied behavior analysis, and her talk focused on a description of her work and her professional journey, as well as lessons learned along the way.
Fall 2024 Speaker (October 2, 2024)
Overview
The fall 2024 speaker was Dr. Joe Olmi, Professor Emeritus of Psychology at the University of Southern Mississippi where he served for 31 years as faculty in the School Psychology Program. Dr. Olmi is also a licensed Psychologist in Mississippi and has approximately 45 years’ experience in educational settings. He has consulted with Head Start programs, school districts, and state departments of education in Mississippi and Louisiana on issues pertaining to juvenile detention center redesign, alternative education, positive behavioral support, system-wide intervention for disruptive behavior, classroom management, risk assessment, and classroom/family intervention for children with disorders/disabilities. His talk, titled “Reflections on a Career in Applied Psychology and the Impact of Dr. Joe Evans,” highlighted his professional journey, the contributions he has made to the field, and the lessons he has learned along the way.
